“END POLIO NOW” Tulip Garden Planted by Newcastle Rotary

Newcastle Rotary Club members, along with Miramichi City Mayor Adam Lordon and members of the community planted Rotary Tulips on October 24, 2019 in an effort to raise awareness, funds, and support to eradicate the vaccine-preventable disease. 100 tulips alone were planted at the Ritchie Wharf Park so that in 2020 we can celebrate the 75th anniversary of the United Nations in this manner. Thirty-five years ago, Rotary began a campaign to eliminate polio from the globe, when polio was endemic in several continents with hundreds of thousands of cases each year. Over this period Rotary has raised 3.6 billion dollars to progress the campaign.
